about

Personnel problems are the death knell of most musical outfits. Bands are about people working together without reprieve to make creative statements using the limited resources of youth until the strains of capitalism and adulthood and opinions causes even the tightest knit friends to break up. Bombadil is no exception. Two founding members of the band left for such reasons in 2014-2015.

We who remained were lost, worried. Should we continue? How would we fill the void or reimagine the vacuum of those that had left? What new roles would we assume? How would we work with each other now? How would we compose music and perform concerts?

Most of these questions we didn't know how to answer. So we did what any aspiring band would do - we turned our guitar amp up and played loud and hard in the attic. We started lots of songs and melodies. We filled notebooks with bad lyrics. We drank tea. So many ideas we never finished. Then, we made our quietest and most acoustic record. C’est la vie.

This is the writing process for Bombadil. For every song we release and you hear, there are 9 you won't hear. This EP is a collection of the latter from that time, 6 summers ago
